Naples, Florida was voted one of the top 10 best towns for Christmas last year by Coastal Living, thanks to its abundance of festivals and attractions that keep the holiday cheer going through the whole month of December. So, in the same spirit, here are some fun things to do in Naples at Christmas.
Spending Christmas at the beach is unusual, but fun—especially since it’s a low-stress way to spend time with family, and we all know Christmas can be a stressful time. Plus, Naples has some of the most beautiful white sand beaches around.
This year’s Christmas Boat Parade on Naples Bay will take place the evening of December 9th, and boaters will decorate their ships with lights—one even turned his boat into Santa’s sleigh—and sail around the bay. Make sure you arrive early to find a great spot to watch!
Every year, Fifth Avenue South downtown is decorated elaborately with Christmas lights while a band plays Christmas music. The Naples Botanical Garden is also beautiful around the holidays, and if you’re just visiting, you’ll definitely want to stay at the Ritz-Carlton, which turns into a winter wonderland around Christmas.
The staff here at DeVoe Buick GMC wish you the happiest of holidays!
If you’re like many people, you like to get a solid start on your Holiday shopping by venturing out on Black Friday. You can find dozens of excellent deals if you know where to look. Use these Black Friday shopping tips from DeVoe Buick GMC to make the most of your shopping.
Make a List
Before you head out, you need to get organized. Make a list of what you’re looking for and order it based on priority. Know which store you need to visit for each item, and have a backup plan in case you can’t find what you wanted.
Shop Together and Apart
You can make the most of your Black Friday shopping if you go with a friend or two. Not only is it more fun, but you can split up when needed to cover more ground more quickly.
If you don’t like the busy stores, no problem! You can still find tons of great deals online, especially if you do your research ahead of time. Many websites will advertise their sales beforehand so you can plan your purchases.
When the crowds get frustrating, remember that everyone is out for the same reason as you are. Try to be patient and careful when in the stores and in traffic. Bring a book or headphones if you’re going alone so you’ll have something to do while you wait in line. You might want to pack snacks, too—especially if you’re susceptible to becoming “hangry!”
There’s no vehicle like the crossover. Efficient yet capable, compact yet filled with useful features, it’s a favorite for families, young adventurers, and everything in between. With that in mind, every brand is always looking for new ways to make their crossover the best in the segment. With the new redesigned 2018 GMC Terrain, GMC has succeeded at this goal admirably.
Changes are applied to both the interior and exterior of this SUV. Outside, the 2018 GMC Terrain gets new, bold styling while the cabin gets updates to accommodate versatile needs. A fold-flat front passenger seat and rear seats allow drivers to load cargo that’s up to 8 feet long.
The 2018 GMC Terrain also gets updated powertrain options. Drivers can now have this crossover with a new diesel engine that kicks out 137 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque, all while delivering 39 mpg highway.* Each of the two turbocharged gas engines also promise exceptional fuel economy.
In addition to design and performance, the new GMC Terrain also comes with generous features that will be appreciated by all. A standard 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot is perfect for any lifestyle, and a long list of advanced safety tools are just what many divers are looking for. This list includes the standard Teen Driver feature, a useful tool for teaching safe habits to young drivers.
If you’re thinking of upgrading to a modern crossover that offers a ton of bang for the buck, you can’t go wrong with the 2018 GMC Terrain. Learn more when you take one of these SUVs for a test drive at DeVoe Buick GMC.
Since your parents started dressing you in that (totally awesome) pumpkin costume, you’ve associated Halloween with trick-or-treating. But just how did it all start? Here’s some history about how trick-or-treat came to be, from us here at DeVoe Buick GMC.
The term “trick-or-treat” was only coined in 1951, when it was made popular by the Peanuts comic strip. However, that’s not the origin of the actual practice of trick-or-treating. Back in the Middle Ages, people would dress up as ghosts or demons and would perform “tricks” for food and drinks.
In later centuries, young people in Scotland and Ireland would dress up (called “guising”) and go door to door, telling jokes or singing songs in exchange for a treat of some sort.
Guy Fawkes Day was a celebratory holiday in England. In the 19th century, children began dressing up as Fawkes (a famous conspirator) and asking people for “a penny for the Guy”.
In the United States, trick-or-treating spawned from the American colonists who celebrated Guy Fawkes Day as well as the Irish and Scottish who practiced their tradition of “guising”. Pranking on Halloween became a common practice during the 1920’s, which ending up leading to the “trick-or-treat” practice.
After a short halt on trick-or-treating during WWII, it became popular again during the postwar baby boom. And we’ve been trick-or-treating ever since!
If you’re ready for an adventure, the 2018 GMC Terrain is the one for you. This crossover has the strength and power it takes to travel any road. Check out why the Terrain is a standout among its competitors.
While you don’t need incredible style to take on an adventure, it certainly doesn’t hurt. The 2018 Terrain has sharp angles that make it stand out from other crossovers on the road and help it cut through the air and improve its aerodynamics.
On the inside, you’ll get luxury with heated and ventilated seats, aluminum trim, and a heated steering wheel. All of this helps to make long road trips comfortable.
You can travel the landscapes with the help of three different engine options. With up to 252 horsepower, you’ll have the power to do anything. Don’t worry, though, there’s still plenty of efficiency available, with a diesel engine that delivers up to 39 mpg highway.*
At the Denali trim level, you’ll get a unique suspension that will make your drive sportier and smoother than ever. Whether you choose Denali trim level or not, though, you’re sure to get optimal performance and handling.
All of these features make the 2018 GMC Terrain the obvious choice for any adventure. Take it for a test drive today at DeVoe Buick GMC.

The GMC brand is known for its capable but sophisticated lineup of SUVs and pickups. At DeVoe Buick GMC, we love seeing our favorite GMC vehicles on the road, but we also love to catch them on the big screen. Here are five movies with GMC cars as their star.
The Notebook (2004)
This classic romance film was one of the first chances crowds had to fall in love with the handsome Ryan Gosling, but we have to assume that his 1935 GMC QB truck was part of the charm.
The Bridges of Madison County (1995)
A slightly newer GMC truck plays a role in this romance film when Clint Eastwood’s character drives a 1960 GMC 1500.
Aliens vs. Predator – Requiem (2007)
Thanks to this movie, it has been proven that the 2005 GMC Yukon XL is the perfect vehicle to take when you’re heading out to defeat the Predators and the Aliens.
This serious drama makes room for the 1997 GMC C-15, which helps to drive the plot, telling a story of young Gary and his new father-figure Joe.
The Transformers franchise takes the opportunity to showcase many different manufacturers. You’ll spot plenty of GMC cars in these movies, like the GMC Topkick C4500 which turns into the Autobot Ironhide. We’re waiting for GMC to release this transformative feature as a standard for us to try, but until then we’ll have to settle for binge-watching Michael Bay’s Transformers series.
We love tailgating at DeVoe Buick GMC, so we’re always looking for new tailgating ideas. Looking to take your tailgating parties to the next level? Then it’s time to stray from the standard burger and chips. With an updated menu and some fresh meal plans, your friends will never want anyone else to host the tailgating festivities.
A selection of cheeses, meats, and veggies can make for some delicious, cool sandwiches that you can prepare the night before. Use miniature buns or assemble on a baguette that can be sliced into small sandwiches. Place sandwiches in ziplock bags and keep refrigerated until it’s time to go.
Chips and Dip
Knock regular old chips and salsa out of the park by making a trio of your own homemade dips. You’ll have no trouble finding recipes for things like grilled salsa, easy guacamole, cheese dips, and more.
Stews, Soups, and Gumbos
When the weather cools down, let your guests warm up with more than just hot chocolate and coffee. Crock-pot recipes for soups, stews, and gumbos let you cook your meal overnight. Come morning, it’s ready to store in thermoses where it will stay warm until you’re ready to serve it later.
The 2018 Buick Enclave will arrive completely redesigned later this year. Part of its new design will be the debut of the Avenir luxury sub-brand. The Enclave Avenir will represent the highest level of Buick luxury with premium materials, more versatility, and intuitive technology.
“The Enclave has been a successful formula for the Buick brand, with sales results that have defied traditional product cycles, and 90 percent of customers purchasing in the top two trim levels,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president of Global Buick and GMC. “It’s a beacon for the modern, attainable luxury Buick stands for and is a natural place to launch Avenir.”
The Buick Enclave Avenir will come standard with advanced safety features, a Buick-first Rear Camera Mirror, a hands-free power-programmable liftgate, and more connectivity. In addition, it will feature distinctive styling elements like a three-dimensionsional mesh grille, pearl nickel 20-inch aluminum wheels, and Evonik Acrylite lighting.
Inside the Enclave Avenir, there will be spacious seating for up to seven passengers. In addition, it will provide more total cargo volume behind the first row than other luxury brand competitors.
The redesigned 2018 Buick Enclave, including the Avenir model, will be coming to DeVoe Buick GMC this fall.

Pack for the perfect picnic!
Summer is here, and it’s the perfect time to enjoy the great outdoors with family and friends. One great way to celebrate is with a picnic. Here’s how to pack the perfect picnic basket to ensure both safety and fun.
Remember what your teachers always told you—safety first! Food safety is the number one priority when packing picnic baskets, because you want everybody to enjoy the food without getting sick. One way to avoid that is to ditch food that’s been left out more than two hours. In warm weather, food can go bad fast. Make sure that you fill your picnic basket with ice packs to try to keep the food cool as long as possible.
Besides being safe, you’ll also want to be smart. Pack essentials like napkins, plates, and utensils so that you’re not stuck using your hands for everything! Make sure that you also bring a garbage bag to avoid littering.
Finally, there is the fun part—the food itself! Coming up with the perfect picnic meal can be hard, but we’re here to help. Travel-sized food is perfect for picnics because it’s easy to pack. Bite-sized sandwiches won’t make a mess and they’ll fit in your basket neatly.
Good luck on your picnic adventures!
