How to Keep Your New Year’s Resolutions
As the New Year begins, many people set resolutions or goals to help make their life better. However, usually within a month or two, most people have already given up. If you want to find a way to keep your New Year’s resolutions, read the following tips.
1. Set a Realistic Goal
If you make a pie-in-the-sky goal to lose 100 pounds, you are probably going to fail. Instead, make your goal more reasonable, like being more active and eating healthier foods.
2. Make Your Goals Automatic
If you want to save money for a new car, set up a direct deposit from your paycheck to put a certain dollar or percentage amount into savings. Or, if you want to eat healthier, put sliced veggies into your lunchbox for snacks at work so that you aren’t tempted to hit the vending machine.
3. Get Some Help
Almost all of us work better when we have a team to support us. Tell your friends and family about your goals so they can encourage you. You might even find someone with the same resolution, creating a two-way support system.
4. Reward Your Success
When you meet one of your smaller goals, celebrate with something that doesn’t hurt your resolution. For example, don’t go on a spending spree if you are trying to save money or eat a box of chocolates if you are trying to eat healthier.
