Buick has many amazing vehicles in the works, and we at DeVoe Buick GMC are excited to finally see the new LaCrosse Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV). This model debuted at the 2016 Beijing Auto Show, since China is one of Buick’s largest markets.

Lary Nitz, GM executive director of Global Propulsion System stated that, “GM’s leadership in electrification technologies, now and in the future, are coming to Buick in China.” The plan is to then introduce more than 10 new energy-efficient vehicles over the next five years. This includes plug-in hybrids, full hybrids, and extended-range electric vehicles.

The 2017 Buick LaCrosse HEV has a 1.8-liter SIDI engine, a 1.5-kWh lithium battery, and an electric variable transmission. This has helped increase fuel economy to 50 mpg, which is 35% more than the current LaCrosse with eAssist technology. This won’t be a sluggish vehicle though, as it can still accelerate from 0-to-60mph in 8.9 seconds.

A sleek roofline also helps improve efficiency and create an aerodynamic appearance. In addition, there is more advanced technology such as exhaust thermal energy recycling. This was also the introduction of the new platform of more efficient green technologies with the new “Buick Blue” logo.

We are not sure if the LaCrosse HEV will be offered in the United States, but we are certainly hoping that it will be!

Buick Envision Crossover Coming to America Summer 2016

Buick LogoFollowing its success as a China-exclusive model, the Buick Envision crossover will be debuting in the United States this upcoming summer as a 2016 model year. Buick’s crossover sales current make up 65% of the brand’s sales overall, making the decision to import the Envision–which will fill a niche between the Enclave and the Encore–a smart one.

The 2016 Encore is designed and engineered in America, but assembled at Buick’s plant in Shanghai. Featuring GM’s new global architecture for compact vehicles, an upscale look, and seating for five passengers, the new crossover is a luxurious and innovative but family-friendly addition to the company’s lineup. Other features include the standard turbocharged 252-hp Ecotec engine and Buick’s Active Twin Clutch AWD system.

The Buick Envision crossover is said to take some design cues from the rest of the Buick lineup, but with a contemporary edge as the company seeks to target a younger and more modern demographic–the demographic that made the crossover segment in general so wildly successful. With crossover sales dominating Buick’s numbers, the company has good reason to import this new addition to the family. We can’t wait to see it.
