New 2017 Verano Design: Stunning Sophistication

2017 Buick Verano

2017 Buick Verano

The 2017 Verano design has fans talking. This model comes with a lightweight body that has been restyled like never before. This completely overhauled appearance is made to modernize the Verano while also improving fuel economy and adding luxury. If you want a sophisticated, advanced car, look no further than the new Buick Verano.

According to GM Authority, the new Verano comes with a compact design that is perfect for tight city streets as well as the open road. This fresh compact body has also allowed engineers to cut a significant amount of weight off the Verano, improving fuel economy, performance, and handling. The compact look is just the start, though.

The Verano is also getting an entirely new exterior, with a bold front end, sweeping contours, and available LED lighting. The interior is getting added space, as well as exclusive materials and sophisticated styling. This includes things like leather trim, high-contrast stitching, chrome trim, and wood inlays.

Under the hood will be a turbocharged four-cylinder engine as well, offering optimum performance and gas mileage. While previous model years had naturally aspirated engines, this new turbocharged powertrain will help drivers save at the pump while also reducing unnecessary emissions. These are just some of the great new features set to be released on the new Buick Verano.

What Does a Car’s Torque Mean?

dashboardThere are a lot of confusing terms when it comes to checking out new cars and reading through the specifications. While horsepower is pretty self-explanatory, torque is a widely referred to spec that not many drivers can define. Even more of a mystery is what torque actually does in a car. So, just what does a car’s torque mean? Let us DeVoe Buick GMC explain.

Putting it plain and simple, torque causes a car to accelerate. While the torque specification is a higher number than the torque on the wheels, it’s still a good indicator of how fast a car can accelerate.

There are a few things that can help a car accelerate other than torque. A lighter car and lower center-of-mass will obviously help.

We’ve defined what torque is but not how it effects the vehicle in reality. Take a truck like the GMC Sierra 1500, for example.

If you’ve ever read the specifications on a full-size pickup, odds are you noticed that the engines fall in the range of a V6 or V8 and may include a diesel option here and there. The reason for that size of an engine is simple: the larger the engine, the more torque it can produce.

An engine with high torque won’t be as effective without large wheels and tires, which is why trucks are usually so massive.

New 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 Features

The 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 is here at last, and the new model comes with quite a new few features. From personal customization options, like paint color, to features that are commonly requested by drivers, this full-size pickup is designed to give customers more for their money. While GMC has added quite a few new features, the automaker has also removed some as well.

The 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 loses the Light Steel Gray Metallic, Iridium Metallic, and Mahogany Metallic colors. As a replacement, the full-size pickup sees the addition of Dark Slate Metallic and Pepperdust Metallic.

As for highly-requested GMC Sierra 1500 features, the truck sees the addition of capless fuel fill and Teen Driver mode with IntelliLink infotainment system to the list of standard features. Low Speed Mitigation Braking also makes its way onto the list. Tri-Mode Power Steps, 18-inch all-season blackwall tires, and a trailer brake controller (SLT Crew Cab Premium Plus Package) all join the list of available options.

A Sneak Peak at the Twin of the 2018 Buick Regal

We at DeVoe Buick GMC are thrilled by the spy pictures of the upcoming 2017 Opel/Vauzhall Insignia. You may be asking why we are excited since those aren’t brands we have here in the US. Well…the Insignia is basically a twin of the 2018 Buick Regal, only differing in name and powertrain options.

Both the Insignia and Regal are based on the updated version of GM’s E2XX architecture. This means that the interior will most likely be lengthen, and the overall vehicle weight will be lessened.

The new instrument panel has two large pods at an angle, which appears modernly organized. The current panel is often thought of as overly busy, so the new design helps streamline and de-clutter the center console. There are only two rows of buttons under the touchscreen display, which proves GM’s intent to simplify and streamline.

There are also rumors of the new Insignia and Regal having a hybrid powertrain option, a possible turbocharged V6, and even a potential all-wheel drive. The rumors also point out that GM is testing a five-door liftback version and a station wagon version of the Insignia, so we’ll see which body styles make it to the Regal.

For now, we’ll try to wait patiently until more details are released. Of course, feel free to come to DeVoe Buick GMC to see the current Regal, which is still a fantastic choice.

Buick Avista Concept Wins ‘Best Future Concept’ Award in Detroit

Buick LogoThe Buick Avista Concept model recently won the Detroit News Reader’s Choice award for the Best Future Concept due to its innovative engineering and styling. This acclaimed model also just won the EyesOn Design Award for Design Excellence, making the Avista one of the most anticipated models of the season.

What makes the Avista so popular? According to Buick, the Avista is a sports model with features like the new Electronic Precision Shift technology, touch-pad door handles, a 3.0-liter Twin Turbo V6, and more. Plus, this model has a sleek two-door design with sharp contours and unforgettable LED headlights.

“This award is special because this is the Motor City and it was decided by people who reside here – alongside many of the men and women who poured their hearts and souls into this concept,” said Nesbitt. “Because Avista represents the future essence of Buick design, an award decided by consumers is a great vote of confidence.”

The award was given to the Avista design team after roughly 100 judges made the final vote. Not only does the Avista represent the future of Buick styling, but this model also anticipates the future of mobility. We can’t wait to see it shake up the market once it arrives.

2015 GMC Canyon SLT Interior Chosen as One of Year’s Best

2015 GMC Canyon

2015 GMC Canyon

Each year, Ward’s Auto chooses ten new and redesigned vehicles for its “10 Best Interiors” list, which honors the models with most innovative and impressive interiors based on a variety of criteria.

Ward’s Auto recently announced its choices for 2015, including the GMC Canyon SLT on the list. Additionally, the Canyon SLT was one of only two pick-up trucks that made the cut, right next to Ford’s latest F-150.

To be eligible for the list, a vehicle’s interior has to be entirely new, meaning there were about 40 vehicles available to choose from for this year’s list. The judges spent a careful 10 days with the cars, in order to make the right decision.

James M. Amend of Ward’s Auto cited “a good dose of technology and styling that strikes a unique balance between sophistication and good old-fashioned pickup ruggedness” as reasons for the Canyon’s selection, as well as its brand attributes.

Buick Avenir Lighting Feat of Illuminating Ingenuity

Not only are light emitting diodes (also known as LEDs) an energy-efficient way to radiate light energy, they are a statement—which is more than apparent in the form and function headlights found in the Buick Avenir concept and also, perhaps, future Buick offerings.

Buick Avenir

Buick Avenir Concept

The LED headlights featured on the Avenir concept are composed of a triad of jewel-like LED assemblies formed to imitate the wave-like pattern located inside the concept’s cabin. When the turn signal is on, the LEDs in the headlights and taillights brighten successively giving the “impression of waves upon a shoreline.”

“Technology will always be a major contributing factor to future Buick lighting designs as it allows for more flexibility with the aesthetics and performance of the light,” said Martin Davis, design manager for the brand’s exterior lighting. “Thanks to LEDs, we are now at the point where designers can break free of many of the constrictions previously placed on lighting design.”

We at Devoe Buick GMC can’t wait to see forthcoming illumination technologies that Buick is sure to imbue in its future lineup, especially if it emulates that of the Buick Avenir lighting!
