Our hometown of Naples is well-known for its sunny beaches in the summertime, but it is often overlooked for its beauty after Labor Day. Fall in Naples is a beautiful thing that you won’t want to miss; here are just a few of our favorite autumnal to-dos:
Visit the zoo
Folks usually think of a trip to the zoo as a summer activity, but the best time to go is arguably autumn. It’s a bit cooler, and the animals are more active and playful. Plus, the crowds of tourists have diminished drastically. Pack your family into your trusty Buick or GMC and head to Naples Zoo at Caribbean Garden this weekend.
See amazing fall colors at Naples Botanical Garden
Florida may not get the same sort of fiery, explosive fall colors as New England, but only a fool would believe you can’t find all your favorite fall reds, yellows, oranges, and more right here in the Sunshine State. One of the best places to check out for autumn hues is Naples Botanical Gardens.
Celebrate the arts during Celebrate the Arts Month
November is “Celebrate the Arts Month,” put on by the United Arts Council of Collier County. All month long, you can participate in your favorite arts and culture in the form of live music, pop-up galleries, student art shows, and a variety of entertainers.
If you need a reliable ride to get around Naples this fall — or any other beautiful season for that matter — stop into DeVoe Buick GMC and check out what we’ve got on the lot.
If you love your car and your state, then summer is the perfect time of year to enjoy both to the fullest. Take a ride in your vehicle and make these awesome day trips that are just a short drive away from Naples.
While Fort Myers is a great beach town, there’s more than just the water here. What makes it different is its historical homes, like Thomas Edison’s Botanic Research Laboratory, and Henry Ford’s winter homes (perfect for car lovers).
Even those who don’t live in the Sunshine State are familiar with the Florida Everglades. If you do live here, you have no excuse not to take some time to appreciate its majesty. Everglades National Park as well as the Big Cypress National Preserve both give you a glimpse of the natural beauty that will stick with you.
Matlacha is packed with small-town charm and a great getaway from city life. It’s an old fishing village rich with color and history, as well as antique stores, art galleries, and all kinds of shops. If you enjoy fishing, the famous “World’s Fishing-est Bridge” is a quaint wooden bridge that lives up to its name.
Live the island life for a day at Marco Island — just half an hour from Naples. A day at this island means there are multiple beach fronts and plenty of relaxation ahead of you.
Living in Naples is a blessing in and of itself, and the ability to get to so many breathtaking destinations around the state in just a day’s drive makes it all the more worthwhile. If you need a new ride to explore Florida in, look no further than DeVoe Buick GMC.

Naples, Florida was voted one of the top 10 best towns for Christmas last year by Coastal Living, thanks to its abundance of festivals and attractions that keep the holiday cheer going through the whole month of December. So, in the same spirit, here are some fun things to do in Naples at Christmas.
Spending Christmas at the beach is unusual, but fun—especially since it’s a low-stress way to spend time with family, and we all know Christmas can be a stressful time. Plus, Naples has some of the most beautiful white sand beaches around.
This year’s Christmas Boat Parade on Naples Bay will take place the evening of December 9th, and boaters will decorate their ships with lights—one even turned his boat into Santa’s sleigh—and sail around the bay. Make sure you arrive early to find a great spot to watch!
Every year, Fifth Avenue South downtown is decorated elaborately with Christmas lights while a band plays Christmas music. The Naples Botanical Garden is also beautiful around the holidays, and if you’re just visiting, you’ll definitely want to stay at the Ritz-Carlton, which turns into a winter wonderland around Christmas.
The staff here at DeVoe Buick GMC wish you the happiest of holidays!
There’s nothing quite like the throaty hum of a finely-tuned engine. It’s something we can get used to over time and that’s why when it suddenly changes, it can be disconcerting to say the least. So, what changed? Here’s a short list of what different car noises could indicate.
If your vehicle squeals when you apply the brakes, it could be telling you that you need new brakes pads. Have your vehicle inspected soon, because once pads wear out completely your rotors could be damaged.
A loose exhaust system can cause rattling that appears to be coming from underneath your vehicle. You could even take a peek under there to check it out. But, it’s probably better to seek the service of a professional.
There are a number of kinds of grinding sounds an unhealthy vehicle can make. A light grinding sound could mean that your brake pads have been rubbed down to nothing.
If you drive a manual transmission, grinding during shifting could indicate a variety of issues. It could be a dragging clutch or a failing synchronizer. These are problems that normally arise as your vehicle reaches high mileage.
If your troubles are stacking up and you think the solution may be a new vehicle, stop in at DeVoe Buick GMC to explore our excellent lineup!
If you live in Naples, Florida and are looking for something to do the evening of Independence Day, why not come to the fireworks show at the Naples Pier at the West end of 12th Avenue? It’s an annual tradition to celebrate July 4th in Naples with fireworks displays, music, and the beautiful sight of the Florida coastline along the Gulf of Mexico.
The fireworks show is set to begin at 9:00pm after sunset, but guests are permitted to come earlier to set up any blankets, towels, or lawn chairs anywhere between Lowdermilk Park and Naples Beach. The music for the event will be broadcasted through the WAVV 101.1 FM radio station so viewers can listen while enjoying the fireworks shows choreographed to the playlist.
If you want a one-of-a-kind experience, make sure to check reservations for sightseeing boats in the area a few days ahead of time, as well. Some boat reservations are available for visitors who wish to enjoy the fireworks display on the open ocean!
Admission for the event is entirely free. Parking is first-come, first-serve, and areas marked “No Parking” will be strictly patrolled by law enforcement. Police will be present at the event to direct traffic. No personal fireworks such as sparklers are permitted, but coolers with snacks and beverages are allowed.
Hope to see you there!
In the hot, muggy weather that a summer in Florida brings, you’ll want to plan a few trips to the beach. Here are some beaches in and around Naples that you’ll want to head to this summer.
Clam Pass County Park
This secluded beachfront is tucked away in mangroves, and you’ll access it by a tram that drives across a boardwalk. You’ll want to go here if you love nature, because you’ll be among marine and plant life, especially in the tidal bay area.
This place is great for families, especially if you’re bringing young children to the beach. It has a host of full-service facilities and lets you picnic in the gazebo. There are also two playgrounds, a duck bond, plenty of showers and bathrooms, and sand volleyball courts!
Sugden Regional Park
If you’re over salt water, then you’re in luck! Sugden is home to the only public freshwater lake in the Naples area. It’s called Avalon Lake, and not only can you swim here, but you can also rent equipment for water sports and take sailing lessons!
