Buick has many amazing vehicles in the works, and we at DeVoe Buick GMC are excited to finally see the new LaCrosse Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV). This model debuted at the 2016 Beijing Auto Show, since China is one of Buick’s largest markets.

Lary Nitz, GM executive director of Global Propulsion System stated that, “GM’s leadership in electrification technologies, now and in the future, are coming to Buick in China.” The plan is to then introduce more than 10 new energy-efficient vehicles over the next five years. This includes plug-in hybrids, full hybrids, and extended-range electric vehicles.

The 2017 Buick LaCrosse HEV has a 1.8-liter SIDI engine, a 1.5-kWh lithium battery, and an electric variable transmission. This has helped increase fuel economy to 50 mpg, which is 35% more than the current LaCrosse with eAssist technology. This won’t be a sluggish vehicle though, as it can still accelerate from 0-to-60mph in 8.9 seconds.

A sleek roofline also helps improve efficiency and create an aerodynamic appearance. In addition, there is more advanced technology such as exhaust thermal energy recycling. This was also the introduction of the new platform of more efficient green technologies with the new “Buick Blue” logo.

We are not sure if the LaCrosse HEV will be offered in the United States, but we are certainly hoping that it will be!

A Sneak Peak at the Twin of the 2018 Buick Regal

We at DeVoe Buick GMC are thrilled by the spy pictures of the upcoming 2017 Opel/Vauzhall Insignia. You may be asking why we are excited since those aren’t brands we have here in the US. Well…the Insignia is basically a twin of the 2018 Buick Regal, only differing in name and powertrain options.

Both the Insignia and Regal are based on the updated version of GM’s E2XX architecture. This means that the interior will most likely be lengthen, and the overall vehicle weight will be lessened.

The new instrument panel has two large pods at an angle, which appears modernly organized. The current panel is often thought of as overly busy, so the new design helps streamline and de-clutter the center console. There are only two rows of buttons under the touchscreen display, which proves GM’s intent to simplify and streamline.

There are also rumors of the new Insignia and Regal having a hybrid powertrain option, a possible turbocharged V6, and even a potential all-wheel drive. The rumors also point out that GM is testing a five-door liftback version and a station wagon version of the Insignia, so we’ll see which body styles make it to the Regal.

For now, we’ll try to wait patiently until more details are released. Of course, feel free to come to DeVoe Buick GMC to see the current Regal, which is still a fantastic choice.

New Buick Encore Unveiled in New York for 2017

2016 Buick Encore

2016 Buick Encore

At the York International Auto Show, Buick revealed the fourth and last model the brand will be launching in 2016: the new Buick Encore, revised and updated for the 2017 model year. Over the past year, the Encore became the United States’ most popular small SUV, and so strengthening the appeal of the 2017 Encore was part of Buick’s strategy to refresh and reinvigorate the brand’s lineup for a more youthful, trendy demographic.

One of the most significant additions to the 2017 Buick Encore’s extensive list of features is the inclusion of both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. In an increasingly tech-savvy segment, connectivity features such as smartphone-compatible user interfaces are crucial to staying ahead of the competition. Also noted at the presentation was the introduction of a brand-new, next-generation IntelliLink system in the interior, paired to an 8-inch color touchscreen.

Other modern tech added to the Buick Encore unveiled in NY includes Buick’s new QuietTuning engineering, which combines both active and passive methods of sound-cancellation to provide a more relaxing, comfortable atmosphere. Push-button start and keyless entry were also included with the Buick Encore shown at the auto show.

Buick will now be offering SUVs in all three major SUV segments, with the Encore falling into the small SUV segment, the Enclave in the large SUV segment, and the new Envision coming in directly between the two. After statistics showed that over 60 percent of Buick’s sales now come from SUVs, the shift in focus was strategic for the brand.

It was announced that the new Buick Encore will be launching later this year in fall of 2016. Information on the SUV’s five different trim levels was also released, ranging from the entry-level Encore 1SB to the high-end Encore Premium 1SN. Additionally, front-wheel drive comes standard, with all-wheel drive as an option.

Buick and Audiobooks.com Make Audio Books More Accessible Than Ever

Every 2016 Buick model comes with standard 4G LTE connectivity, making it easy to stay connected, whether that be access to music, social media, navigation, or now, audio books. Buick and Audiobooks.com have announced that Buick owners who are subscribed to the OnStar service will qualify for two free audiobook downloads through the end of next year.

The two free audio books will be available through OnStar’s AtYourService concierge service, which also provides location-based offers and the ability to book hotel rooms through Priceline.com. For 2016 Buick Regal or LaCrosse owners, the service will be provided through the integration of Apple CarPlay.

More GMC Vehicles Getting Android Auto

Late last month, General Motors announced that a few more GMC vehicles will get Android Auto starting in March 2016. The 2016 GMC Canyon, Sierra, and Yukon models equipped with the eight-inch IntelliLink system will be able to get this upgrade at any GMC dealer, including here at DeVoe Buick GMC.

With Android Auto on the IntelliLink system, drivers will be able to access everything they love on their smartphones right on the vehicle’s touchscreen, including great apps like Google Maps, Google Now, Spotify, iHeartRadio, and so much more.

Apple users, don’t worry; Apple CarPlay was announced earlier this year and is available in the same GMC lineup.

“Providing Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility ushers in a new era of staying connected in a convenient manner,” said Duncan Aldred, U.S. vice president, Buick and GMC, in a statement.

Many of the Android Auto features can be access through voice commands, letting you keep your hands on the steering wheel and eyes on the road.

Going hand-in-hand with this in-car technology is the available of OnStar 4G LTE connectivity that turns your GMC into a Wi-Fi hotspot that allows up to seven devices to connect at once.

These two programs have been integrated in Buick’s 2016 Regal and LaCrosse as well as GMC’s Canyon, Sierra, and Yukon, which will be available later this year.

“For most of us, our smartphones are essential. 4G LTE Wi-Fi-Enabled 2016 Buick Enclave on the Way

2016 Buick Enclave InteriorThe new 2016 Buick Enclave will be equipped with OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi so you can officially connect from anywhere inside the vehicle! The built-in Wi-Fi hotspot will effectively connect up to seven devices within the Enclave.

4G LTE connectivity is 10-times faster than 3G and it’s 100-times faster than the OnStar technology previously offered. The Wi-Fi signal is also much stronger than other phones that are connected to the same network.

Duncan Aldred, vice president of Buick, said, “Customers’ daily lives are so entwined with personal devices, so the addition of OnStar 4G LTE and its integral Wi-Fi hotspot is a feature they will rely on. It allows busy people to stay connected throughout the day and provides another outlet for passenger entertainment on long trips.”

The new technology will now be standard across the entire Buick lineup, including the new Enclave, Verano, and Regal. Visit DeVoe Buick GMC for more information on the upcoming, Wi-Fi-enabled 2016 Buick Enclave.

2015 Buick Encore Safety Rating Top in Government Crash Testing

2015 Buick Encore

The 2015 Buick Encore Recently Received a 5-Star Rating from the NHTSA

It looks like its vehicles’ appearances aren’t the only things Buick is revamping this year—the American carmaker is also revamping each vehicle’s safety. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently awarded the 2015 Buick Encore its top 5-Star Overall Safety Rating. With this award, Buick now has one of the safest lineups in the industry, with each vehicle—the Verano, Regal, LaCrosse, Enclave, and Encore—earning a 5-Star Overall score.

“Consumers are consistently surprised to discover Encore provides the characteristics they expect in our larger offerings–style, sophistication, connectivity and comfort,” commented Duncan Aldred, vice president of Buick. “NHTSA’s evaluation affirms Encore lives up to Buick’s safety reputation.”

The 2015 Buick Encore safety rating was earned after undergoing a rigorous crash test gauntlet, including front, side, and rollover tests. It also underwent a side pole impact test, which is the NHTSA’s newest assessment.

To see how safe Buick’s lineup truly is, make sure you visit DeVoe Buick GMC and give one of our models a test drive.

Impress Your Kids: Listen to Obscure Rock-n-Roll with SiriusXM on Intellilink

SiriusXM on Intellilink

Interior of the 2015 Buick Enclave

The refreshed 2015 Buick Enclave has heated steering wheels for those with chronically cold hands, as well as new color options for those needing extra flair in their lives. Perhaps most important to those who just need to rock out during their commute is the fact that Buick continues to deliver SiriusXM Satellite radio on the Intellilink infotainment system.

Satellite radio is one of those things that once you try it, you’re hooked. Who wouldn’t be with “channels and channels of commercial-free music, all your favorite sports, exclusive talk and entertainment, traffic, weather, travel and more”? With over 150 channels, what satellite radio gives you is choice. How many times have you listened to music or news on terrestrial radio, not because it was good, but because it was just slightly better than the other three stations available?

Pick up the 2015 Buick Enclave—outfitted with SiriusXM on Intellilink—and make use of its powerful navigation feature with the most updated traffic information. Or wrap your hands around the heated steering wheel, sit back and rock out to that obscure college rock that you’d never find on terrestrial radio.
